First thing this morning, I met with OFFSET MPs to discuss our ongoing campaign against the pylons, and our offshore alternative plans.
Three local county councils have now commissioned their own reports which have highlighted that National Grid won’t need this extra capacity until 2035 – five years later than they have been saying. This would give us more time to sort out strategic offshore alternative, which will be cheaper than on shore in the longer term! Their joint press release can be found here: https://www.suffolk.gov.uk/.../county-councils-remain...
Next steps, OFFSET plans to host a roundtable meeting with the energy minister, Andrew Bowie, and as always I will continue to update residents on our work!
