I am continuing to campaign for a 50mph speed limit on the A120 between Horsley Cross and Harwich, having met concerned residents on the road in December and written to Highways England about safety on the road in November last year, and again in early January.
Accidents keep occurring on this section of the A120, and the causes of this must be addressed. In addition to email exchanges with Highways England, pressing for the 50mph limit, I met Martin Fellows, Regional Director for Highways England last Friday and pressed the issue once again. I am hopeful that Highways England will meet on the road. I have also tabled a written question to the Secretary of State for Transport about safety on this road. I’m thankful to Cllr Carlo Guglielmi and Cllr Daniel Land for bringing this to my attention and their work trying to make this stretch of road safer.
I am confident that if we all keep pressing for 50mph, we will get the speed limit that will reduce both the severity and the number of accidents.
